Entrapment Light

Deception, mimicry, sex and death are not what comes to mind when we think of flowers, however this is exactly what many of the orchid family use to pollinate and feed. Inspired by these unusual flowers the Entrapment Light has been designed for the Sydney Smart Light Festival, where several of these lights will be hung from the branches of the trees in Observatory Park. The lower white lights will lure curious visitors closer where motion sensors will activate the inner red lights. With the structure fully revealed, the viewer becomes trapped, for a moment at least. As they leave the light becomes dormant, waiting as it lures more prey, I mean people!
